FAQs
With so many locks on the market, it can be hard to choose the best one for your space. Start by identifying which features you need. Consider how many lockers you'll have, how they will be used and the security requirements of your space.
For smaller locker spaces (1-50 lockers) we’d recommend cost-effective key locks, padlocks, combination locks or code locks. For mid-sized spaces (50-200 lockers) we recommend battery-powered digital locker locks or a combination lock. Both are easy to use and offer features that save management time. For larger-scale projects (200+ lockers) we recommend smart lock systems or advanced digital locker locks. If you're not sure, just speak to our team!
Smart locks are a sophisticated access control system for lockers. They have an unlimited number of features and can be configured in a variety of ways. Depending on the lock system, the locks can be hardwired or run via WiFi.
Combined with intelligent software, smart locks are managed using real-time online software that can assign, audit or unlock any locker from a computer or mobile device. They provide users with RFID, code or biometric access to their locker either directly at each locker door or via a terminal. Smart locks can also integrate with existing access control networks within a building so one swipe card can access the whole space.
Locker locks range from $20 up to $350 each. This means there is a lock for every price point! When purchasing a lock, it's important to consider features vs cost. Does the lock do what you need it to do? What are the associated lifetime costs? If you're not sure, our team can help you find the best lock for you.
Smart digital locker locks are at the top end of the market, and though $350 per lock sounds expensive, smart locks are sophisticated security systems that can save thousands of dollars in management costs for larger facilities.
Locker locks are programmed in different modes to suit the spaces they operate in. In shared mode, the user finds an available locker and operates it with a single-use code or key. Once the locker is vacated, it becomes available for a different user. This is particularly useful in high traffic environments such as gyms and public areas.
In dedicated mode, the locker belongs to one person who operates it with a permanent code or key. Once set, the fixed code can only be changed by a manager. Dedicated mode works well in schools and offices where one person uses a locker daily.
