St Madeleine Sophie Barat Centre

Education

Client: Sacre Coeur Catholic Girls School

Architect: Hede Architects

Builder: Renascent Construction

Location: Glen Iris

Custom PL2 wave-door lockers were delivered as part of the St Madeleine Sophie Barat Centre development at Sacré Coeur in Glen Iris.

Integrated within the school’s new STEAM and creative learning environments, the locker installation was designed to support secure day-to-day student storage within shared circulation spaces.

The project incorporated 38 PL2 hanging lockers finished in alternating Laminex Bleached Wenge and Battalion laminate finishes, creating a strong visual rhythm across the locker banks.

Each locker was fitted with Keyless1 combination locks and integrated brushed silver acrylic locker numbering throughout the installation.

The completed locker systems provide durable and easily managed storage aligned with the contemporary architectural character of the learning environment.

Education locker considerations

Made for school life

Designed around
student use

Locker systems configured around
high-frequency daily use, varied
student age groups and long-term
durability requirements.

Mixed locker
environments

Shelving, hanging, device and
accessible lockers combined within
coordinated education layouts.

Durability &
maintenance

Locker systems, hinges and hardware
selected around robust daily use, simplified maintenance and long-term operational performance

Circulation &
supervision

Locker layouts should consider circulation flow, student congestion, supervision and access within education environments with their diverse user-cohorts during high volume before-and-after class peaks.

Designed around your project

Lockin lockers are manufactured to order and configured around the needs of each project - from dimensions and materials through to layouts, locking systems and accessories.

Flexible dimensions & layouts

Locker widths, heights, depths and internal configurations can all be adjusted to suit project requirements, available space and user needs.

Material & finish
flexibility

Available in laminate, steel or hybrid constructions, with commercial finishes including timber-look laminates, powdercoat colours, perforations and custom graphics.

Integrated lock & accessory systems

Locker systems can be configured with mechanical, digital, RFID or hardwired locking systems, alongside accessories such as seating, charging, mail slots, ironing stations and drying facilities.

Built for project-specific applicators

From workplace and education environments through to elite sports facilities and custom operational requirements, Lockin systems can be adapted to suit unique project briefs.

Specifier Resources

Download BIM objects, and Revit families built to inform and steamline design, project coordination and technical specification.

Locker planning insights

Common education locker planning considerations that will help prevent operational, durability and usability issues later

Design lockers
inside out

Locker dimensions and internal structure should reflect what students actually carry and need to securely store, including packs and bags, laptops, sports gear, musical instruments and personal items.

Durability
& maintenance

Education environments create high-frequency daily use. Materials, hardware, hinges, ventilation, tops and finishes should all reflect long-term durability, simple utility and low maintenance requirements.

Circulation
& supervision

Locker layouts should consider student congestion, supervision, aisle widths and movement through busy education environments during peak periods.

Installation
tolerance

Allowance for installation tolerances, floor variation and service coordination helps reduce on-site modifications and visible gaps during installation.

Schools commonly combine shelving, hanging and accessible lockers within projects, supplemented with mini-device lockers in classrooms.

Made for inclusive spaces

Accessible locker options can be integrated within standard locker layouts to support inclusive workplace, education and change-room environments.

Integrated within
locker layouts

Accessible configurations can be incorporated within shelving and hanging locker systems to support inclusive spaces without separating users from the broader environment.

Supports accessible design requirements

Locker configurations can assist projects designed in accordance with AS1428 accessibility standards and NCC accessibility provisions

Designed for changing user needs

Inclusive locker planning helps future-proof facilities by supporting a broader range of occupants and visitors over time, including people with mobility limitations, temporary injuries, reduced dexterity or low vision.

Materials & finishes to fit your project

Lockin lockers are available in laminate, steel and hybrid constructions, with finishes and detailing selected around the operational, aesthetic and durability requirements of each project.

Laminate
finishes

Laminate lockers offer a wide range of commercial colours, woodgrains and textured finishes that integrate easily with interior palettes and surrounding joinery systems.

Steel &
powdercoat

Welded steel lockers provide durability, moisture resistance and security, with modern powdercoat finishes and perforation patterns increasingly used as architectural design elements.

Hybrid
options

Hybrid systems combine welded steel locker bodies for strength and durability with laminate doors and finishes for a warmer, furniture-like appearance.

Custom
detailing

Lockers can be configured with perforations, graphics, numbering, signage and ventilation detailing to support branding, wayfinding and architectural integration.
